The Non-Profit Erich Fromm Foundation (Tübingen) is financing a two-year fellowship for scientific research on the thought and work of Erich Fromm

Persons may apply who can demonstrate a scientific involvement with Erich Fromm (preferably in the form of a dissertation or scientific publications) and wish to acquire further scientific qualifications and/or to prepare a publication on the basis of their research on Erich Fromm at the Erich Fromm Institute in Tübingen.

The Fellowship will be granted for research work which promotes the reception of Erich Fromm's insights, brings them up to date, works out their ramifications, shows their application to questions of the present day, resp. makes them a topic of discourse in today's scientific community.

The Fellowship comes with a monthly sum of 3,100 Euros (minus the costs of health and liability insurance).

The fellows are expected to have a good knowledge of English (since most documents of the Erich Fromm Institute are in English), along with sufficient familiarity with the German language to permit conversation in German.

The Fellowship will be given starting in the winter semester of 2014-2015 for a duration of two years. An extension is possible in individual cases.

  • The Fellowship endowment will provide gross funding of 3,100 Euros monthly.
  • An office for work will be made available at the Erich Fromm Institute in Tübingen, Hintere Grabenstr. 26.
  • At least 15 hours of presence per week at the Erich Fromm Institute in Tübingen, to be coordinated with the Foundation Board, are required

Each Application (in English or German) should include the following:

  • CV (with photo)
  • Scientific career to date

-      the planned timeline for the research, and

-      if known, the name of an institution of learning at which a higher academic qualification is to be striven for based on the Fromm research which will be carried out.

The application should be sent to the Foundation Board by 31 August 2014 (address below). The applications will be evaluated by a commission which, in addition to the Foundation Board, will include two members from the Foundation's Board of Curators.
